The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for Food & Beverage Interns for the 2017 summer baseball season (May 2017--August 2017).The Crushers are seeking students, who are passionate about working in the Hospitality and / or Sports industry to fill internship positions in concessions for the 2017 summer term. Interns will work directly with the Director of Food & Beverage, learning all aspects of food services at a professional sports venue. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling and managing of game day employees.
  • Assist with the food preparation and set up for concession stands.
  • Help coordinate and service group outings and picnic.
  • Assist with inventory control

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be reliable, detailed oriented, able to problem solve, able to efficiently multi-task, have solid communication skill and writing ability, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.
  • Efficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is required.
  • Candidates in their junior or senior year of college will be given preference.
  • This is a part-time, seasonal position. Interns must be able to work weekdays from 10am to 4pm and all game days until the conclusion of the game.

This is an unpaid internship, and no housing is provided. College credit can be awarded for completion of this internship.

Summer Internship Job Description

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for Interns. As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will have the opportunity to experience and partake in all aspects of how a professional baseball team operates.   Interns can gather practical work experience in all aspects of professional sports including, but not limited to:

Marketing / Promotions

Stadium Operations

Ticketing

Corporate Client Management

Financial Management

Concessions

Special Projects

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Game Day rotational program which will allow you to experience multiple aspects of minor league baseball operations
  • Help plan, promote, and execute promotional / theme nights
  • Assist with: Public Relations, Community Development, Media Relations, and various other office needs
  • Work with Stadium Operations staff to execute baseball games and other stadium events
  • Work all aspects of ticketing process from sales support to box office operations and game day ticketing tasks
  • Work with corporate client development program
  • Learn all aspects of concession operations
  • Work all Crushers’ home games and events

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending, an accredited university. (All majors welcomed)
  • Passion to work in the sports industry
  • Ability to think outside the box, and bring new ideas to the table
  • Maintain a professional demeanor during his pressure situations
  • Capability to work long hours in various types of weather
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Enjoy working as part of a team

Summer Internship: Video production & photogrphy - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, Oh)

We are looking for an intern interested in videography, video editing & photography for the 2017 season.   The position is unpaid, however academic credit is available if applicable.

Duties

  1. Shoot and edit news-style video packages of player interviews, community relations events and appearances, and other team-related events.
  2. Compile and edit footage into video highlight segments.
  3. Shoot game footage during live games and promotional events during stoppages.
  4. Archive, log, and maintain game footage for future use.
  5. Work with Team Photographer to edit photo’s for sale, web & social media distribution
  6. Generate and execute new concepts for in-game entertainment features and promotions.
  7. Capture Proof of Performance materials for end-of-season reviews
  8. Other duties as assigned in a complete and timely fashion.

Requirements

  1. General knowledge of video production equipment including camera, digital recording media, editing systems, etc.
  2. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  3. Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines.
  4. Must be available for a majority of the games.

Summer Internship: Web & Graphic Design - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers, an independent league professional baseball team located in Avon, OH, are seeking a Web & Graphic Design intern to design its’ flyers and promotional materials for the 2017 summer baseball season, as well as work on the team's website.  This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, on your own schedule, with real-world applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Create Posters/Flyers for:
    • Promotional and Theme Nights
    • Nightly Group Welcome Signs
    • Crushers’ Events (i.e. Crushers’ Hitting Academy, Summer Baseball Camps, ect.)
    • Crushers’ Kid’s Club Posters/Flyers
    • Game Day Roster & other program inserts
  • Update the team website on a daily basis
  • Create mailers for Crushers’ events and group outings
  • Create staff name badges and VIP passes
  • Opportunity to expand into other areas (Merchandise, signage, ect)
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending, or recently graduated from, an accredited university (Graphic Design or comparable major preferred)
  • Creative, outside the box thinker, willing and excited to bring new ideas to the table
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Publisher, InDesign, or Photoshop (if working remotely, you will have to provide your own software)
  • Ability to work under a deadline
  • Good communicator
  • Self-Starter, who can work with little supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
