Summary:

The Evansville Otters have openings for entry-level positions in our group sales department. These positions are ideal for recent college graduates that have completed a related internship and are looking for a full-time position.  The primary focus of this position will be selling and servicing group outings and ticket packages to Tri-State area companies, organizations, and individuals. We set a team record for revenue in 2017 and are looking for people to help continue our growth.  This is a full-time position with a target start date of January 2018.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Focus on concentrated selling of Evansville Otters group outings, season ticket packages, and corporate sponsorship.
  • Actively sell group outings, season ticket packages, and corporate sponsorship to meet or exceed set revenue goals via:
    • Proactively prospecting and qualifying new clients
    • Networking at team and community events
    • Developing a personal database of new prospects and clients
    • Conducting face to face meetings
  • Coordinate and execute daily sales calls to any and all potential clients through cold calling, prospecting, and referrals from current clients.
  • Create corporate sponsorship, group outing, and season ticket package proposals to cater to prospective clients and customers.
  • Develop, grow, and maintain year round relationships with customers to increase selling opportunities through exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed at least a full-season internship in professional baseball. Professional image and demeanor.
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, etc. and an ability to learn and master new software programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with prospects, current customers and clients, and other staff members in a professional manner.
  • Strong time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service skills.

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a skilled and motivated Assistant Marketing Manager for the 2018 season. Responsibilities:

This individual will work closely with the Director of Marketing and the Assistant General Manager as an assistant and direct representative of the Marketing Department to the Gateway Ticket Office, Promotions Department, and Corporate Sales Offices.

Mass Media Marketing

Media Relations:

Qualifications:

Must be familiar with Mac and Windows programs. Preferred working understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (ie. photoshop, illustrator, inDesign, etc.) as well as video editing software (iMovie, FinalCut, After Effects).

  • Good project management skills.
  • Motivated - self-starting attitude.
  • Sound knowledge of marketing principles.
  • Graphic design experience is required.

Marketing Manager

Director of Tournaments and Special Events

Position Summary

With the addition of artificial turf in 2018, Slammers Stadium and the Joliet Slammers look to expand the use of the professional stadium in downtown Joliet by adding sports tourism driven events such as baseball, softball, and soccer tournaments, in addition to other facility rentals.  As a result, the Slammers are looking for a Director of Tournaments and Special Events to drive all facility rentals.

Working with the General Manager, the Director of Tournaments and Special Events will be the primary driver for facility tournaments and rentals.  These ongoing efforts run from inception to completion with a variety of associated accountabilities.  This position has a strong emphasis in relationship building skills with youth, high school, and college Baseball/Softball/Soccer/Lacrosse coaches and requires personal drive, determination, and hard work in a fun, fast-paced environment. The Director will work closely with the Director of Food & Beverage and Facilities Manager in planning food and beverage needs, as well as cleaning and maintenance needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pre Opening

  • Pre-sale of tournaments
  • Participate in planning/strategic meetings when requested
  • Implement marketing plan and strategy of tournaments/rentals
  • Participate in local/regional PR campaigns
  • Manage the preparation of team packets and information for tournaments
  • Support the organization in a sales and tournament building role
  • Make sales calls, speak directly with coaches and organizations to fill tournament slots
  • Meet with league representatives and coaches to fill tournament slots
  • Attend league meetings, events, and conventions as a Slammers/Slammers Stadium representative
  • Build relationships with current and potential sports specific partners
  • Actively seek other stadium event opportunities, both athletic and non-athletic events

Operations

  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers on-site throughout the duration of the tournament/event
  • Update and maintain all information on facility website, social media, and marketing materials with regards to rentals/events
  • Drive constant growth of tournaments and rentals
  • Manage tournament staff
  • Meet all key activation deadlines
  • Support and interact with third party tournament organizations as required
  • Ensure all participants are following rules of artificial turf field and handle any and all violations in the appropriate manner

Research

  • Research and fully understand key scheduling drivers including, but not limited to, seasons, critical dates, tournament play and restrictions
  • Build useful data bases through personal research, online resources, and historical and current information inclusive of teams, organizations, clubs, tournaments and other sources that allow facility to reach key demographics
  • Utilize and leverage information derived from benchmarking, research and data base collection to personally communicate to target markets
  • Provide timely information to the General Manager to ensure key activation deadlines are achieved
  • Establish and implement onsite communication sales plan that targets attending teams, athletes, and coaches promoting facility driven events.
  • Personally take ownership in reaching facility financial goals as it relates to your primary job functions

Administrative

  • Demonstrate and promote a positive attitude and inclusive environment
  • Practice and teach our facility core principles through example
  • Practice and follow professional office etiquette in your daily communications
  • Create and maintain financial reports for events

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of experience in amateur sports tournaments
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication stills-ability to communicate with staff and prepare written reports
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to direct the work activities of several associates simultaneously and plan ahead
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast paced environment

The Joliet Slammers are committed to providing a quality educational experience through our seasonal internship program. Internships will provide you with the necessary tools to help you advance in the field of sports management and become a sought after member of the sports business world. The Slammers’ environment will provide the perfect laboratory for students in all aspects of sports to receive an integrated learning experience. No other learning experience provides the diversity and magnitude of possibilities. Although there is no job with the Slammers guaranteed following completion of the internship, the educational experience will be invaluable moving forward as you enter the sports business field.

Available Internship Emphasis

All Joliet Slammers internships are general education by design as each intern will have education in most departments listed below. However, each intern will be given an emphasis (listed below) to focus their individual education.

Corporate Partnerships

Education Supervisor: Manager Corporate Partnerships

This position will allow each intern to experience a portion of the corporate sales season as well as fulfillment of corporate partnership agreements during the baseball season. As a corporate partnerships intern, you will help perform the necessary duties required to fulfill all the elements of our corporate partnerships, in addition to going above and beyond to ensure partner satisfaction.  You will interact regularly with our sponsors, community partners, fans, and other Slammers staff members. This opportunity will provide you with knowledge and experience in sports sponsorships.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Researching potential clients

·         Assist in creation and presentation of sponsorship proposals

·         Set meetings with potential clients

·         Attendance at Slammers home games and other Slammers events as needed (Summer 2018)

·         Coordinating with all departments to ensure sponsorship fulfillment (ie. working with the marketing department to ensure social media mentions, working with the ticket department and food and beverage operations to fulfill hospitality elements, working with the promotions team to coordinate sponsored in-game activities, video board commercials, etc)

·         Helping coordinate sponsor hospitality such as corporate outings or events with the Slammers

·         Tracking sponsorship elements as to provide Proof of Performance presentations following the season. This includes photographing signage, in-game promotions, and group outings, tracking social media mentions, etc.

Qualifications:

·         Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at accredited university

JOB DUTIES

  • Generate revenue through the identification and closing of tickets sales for the Lake Erie Crushers.
  • Oversee and grow the Crushers ticket sales efforts as it pertains to corporate and group hospitality (suites, party areas, short season packages and season tickets).
  • Maintain and manage database of ticketing clients and prospects.
  • Train, manage and hire a sales staff.
  • Meet or exceed weekly, monthly and yearly sales goals.
  • Participate as a member of the Crushers mid-management team.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to Crushers fans.
  • Represent team at numerous community events throughout the year and actively assist in grass roots marketing efforts to build fan base.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (recommended) in business, sports management, marketing or related field.

Summary

The Normal CornBelters Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, are seeking Corporate Sales Interns for the 2017-2018 season. Positions are available starting in August and may continue through the 2018 season.

2017-2018 Internship Roles


Corporate Sales: This position will report directly to the General Manager and VP of Sales. The Corporate Sales Intern is responsible for assisting the Corporate Sales department with various client projects and support. This internship will allow the applicant to gain valuable work experience within a professional baseball organization. 

Duties and Responsibilities
-Assist with creation of proof of performance documentation for clients including photographing signage, community programs, promotional events, on-field presentations, scoreboard messages, etc. at the discretion of the General Manager
-Assist in game day logistical set-up and event set-up such as mascot appearances, community events, clinics, etc.
-Support front office Corporate Sales Reps with sales recaps that include all aspects of sponsorship for renewals and proof of performance.
-Ensure excellent client experience at games and off-site events.
-Assist in general office work including filing, copying, mailing, data entry, contract routing.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Booking radio, television and other interviews/speaking engagements for the Team President and General Manager.
 

Competencies and Qualifications
-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and other social media platforms. Photoshop is a plus!

Seasonal Group Sales Account Executive - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Seasonal Group Sales Account Executive for the 2018 season. The position will be full-time during the months of January through September, plus all home games. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Ticket Sales.

Responsibilities/Duties:
- Prospecting new group, partial plans, and season ticket sales leads through cold calls, referrals and networking events on a daily basis in St. Charles and surrounding counties
- Assist in the fulfillment of ticket requests and will call by verifying the accuracy of ticket orders
- Serve as and train box office sales team members, assist in walk up sales at the box office window
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Make at least 50+ cold calls daily to new and current clients
- Play an integral role in the planning and executing of the Rascals promotional schedule
- Show passion in all areas of your work; take pride in your career
- Be willing to go above and beyond to help the team succeed
- Participate in community functions and events as schedule requires

Desired Qualities:
- A college degree in Sport Management or related field
- Some previous cold call and customer service experience preferred; sports experience preferred

Description:         

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Director of Promotions/Social Media.  This position will play an essential leadership role within the organization, meeting the needs of the River City Rascals, our fans and our partners. We are looking for a driven, creative individual with a passion for sports and interacting with fans and the community. The ideal candidate will have several years’ experience in a similar role within minor league baseball or a comparable sports entity.

  • Work directly with the front office staff to create, coordinate and execute the promotional calendar including game day promotions, theme nights, in-game promotions, and community appearances to enhance the fan experience and drive ticket sales.
  • Coordinate  and oversee staff during pre-game events including but not limited to: first pitch, national anthems, award ceremonies, parades and special guests
  • Produce daily game day scripts, public address announcements and between-inning promotions
  • When not specifically assigned to a certain task during the game, supervise all interns; "work the crowd" to ensure enthusiasm and a positive fan experience
  • Design all graphics including flyers, posters, programs, pocket schedules, print ads, digital pieces and various other collateral – superior graphic design skills are a MUST
  • Work with executive leadership to develop a grass roots marketing plan for the 2018 season that celebrates our 20th anniversary season
  • Assist with planning and executing the Rascals 20th anniversary season, Home Run Derby & All-Star Game, as well as the second annual STL Legends game.
  • Continually update and produce content for the Rascals website as well as email newsletters; this position directly manages the team website
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring daily content and posts on all Rascals social media outlets
  • Create and execute social media ads and campaigns (including contests and giveaways); manage ad campaign budgets and report on effectiveness
  • Monitor social media performance with analytics tools on a day-to-day and week-to-week basis
  • Create trade deals and develop relationships with local media outlets
  • Assist the Rascals sales team with generating new leads in group tickets/sponsorship sales through networking opportunities and being a positive figure in the community; responsible for hitting your own small individual ticket sales goal
  • Hire, train and supervise promotions interns
  • Manage the success of Kids’ Club, Senior Sluggers, Reading Program, and Hometown Heroes community programs
  • Schedule and manage all mascot appearances as well as marketing table opportunities in the community

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher + 2 year full-time experience in the industry or related field
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be comfortable in front of large crowds and personable
