Florence Freedom 2017 Summer Internships - Florence Freedom (Florence, KY)

The Florence Freedom are now accepting applications for 2017 summer interns. The Freedom's mission is to develop and train the next crop of college students eager to work in the sports field. Each internship will experience management, sales and operations in the world of sports. The Freedom have a strong track record of hiring their own successful interns into full time positions, including 2 individuals from the 2016 class, as well as placing interns into positions around the baseball world.

Develop your skills as a communicator, thinker, planner, salesman/woman and have fun working in the world sports with the Freedom this summer.  

Internship positions with the Freedom vary from paid to unpaid, pending on the required hours and commitment to the organization over the summer. Both full time and part-time/game day positions are available.

Positions available include the following:

1. Assistant Box Office Manager - work directly with our Box Office Manager on the execution of box office operations during the week and during game nights. Manage a staff of 7-8 individuals that work the ticket gates, windows and will call.  This is a full time position during the summer and will be paid a monthly stipend.  

2. Ticket Sales Assistants - work directly with our full time ticket sales staff on the service and sales of group outings. These interns will help finalize group events at the ballpark, and also reach out to targeted demographics of group outing prospects. During game nights, they will opperate the ticket window, selling tickets to walk up guests. Hours include a MWF or TThS schedule, including all game nights.  A game night stipend is paid to these interns.

3. Food & Beverage Assistant - These individuals will be responsible for the management, supervision, inventory control and overall operation of our concession stands during the summer. The individuals will have an opportunity to also sell specialty night parternships to prospects, but mostly the hours will consist of game days from early afternoon through the end of the game. Those interested in improving processes, managing people, learning how to control inventory and being involved with a nightly F&B execution to make our guests experience an enjoyable one, this is for you. 

4. Corporate Partnership Assistant - Work directly with the Freedom GM on the execution and service of corporate partnerships during the 2017 summer. They will assist with the production of POPs (Proof of Performances), script writing for the PA/video control room and selling of 2017 corporate partnership inventory. This internship will have MW or TTh hours during the day, and game nights starting early afternoon.

5. In-Stadium Sales Assistants - These individuals assist with the sales and marketing of Freedom ancillary products to fans (Kids Club, birthday bashes, concert tickets, group outings, 10th Man Experiences, etc). The hours consist mostly of game nights only starting 3 hours before game time, as well as one day a week to promote and sell specialty night partnerships.

6. Stadium Operations - Stadium Ops interns will work directly with the Director of Stadium Ops on the execution and set up of the stadium for ballpark events. They will manage and supervise a staff of individuals whose responsibilities will range from janitorial, kids zone, ushers and security.  Hours consist of ballpark events only with sales opportunities available during the week.  

7. Promotions Assistant - Work with our Director of Marketing and Promotions on the execution and development of nightly promotions.  You will also attend events in the community on behalf of the organization to promote the team.  Position includes the writing and development of the nightly promotions PA script. Hours consist mostly of game nights, with some office hours required to aid with the development of promotional nights. Able to start in February with the club on a part time basis.

 Introduction

The Joliet Slammers are committed to providing a quality educational experience through our seasonal internship program. Internships will provide you with the necessary tools to help you advance in the field of sports management and become a sought after member of the sports business world. The Slammers’ environment will provide the perfect laboratory for students in all aspects of sports to receive an integrated learning experience. No other learning experience provides the diversity and magnitude of possibilities. Although there is no job with the Slammers guaranteed following completion of the internship, the educational experience will be invaluable moving forward as you enter the sports business field.

Eligibility

An emphasis will be placed on students seeking internships for an excellent educational experience. Therefore, it is preferred if students have achieved excellent academic achievement and would be receiving college credit for the internship experience.

Evaluations

The Joliet Slammers will provide each intern with evaluations in accordance with their respective school’s requirements. Further evaluations will be given by the Slammers full time employees.

Available Internship Emphasis

All Joliet Slammers internships are general education by design as each intern will have education in most departments listed below. However, each intern will be given an emphasis (listed below) to focus their individual education. Every intern will be required to present to other interns regarding their emphasis to enable a holistic learning experience. Each internship also requires participation in game day activities.

Education Supervisor: General Manager

Areas of Education

Learn to market team merchandise and drive revenue through the sale of merchandise both in stadium and through alternate sales channels. Aid in design of team and online store. Internship will include education in managing inventory, store organization, ordering of new merchandise, training of game day staff, and managing team shop on game day.

Summer Internship: Video production & photogrphy - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, Oh)

We are looking for an intern interested in videography, video editing & photography for the 2017 season.   The position is unpaid, however academic credit is available if applicable.

Duties

  1. Shoot and edit news-style video packages of player interviews, community relations events and appearances, and other team-related events.
  2. Compile and edit footage into video highlight segments.
  3. Shoot game footage during live games and promotional events during stoppages.
  4. Archive, log, and maintain game footage for future use.
  5. Work with Team Photographer to edit photo’s for sale, web & social media distribution
  6. Generate and execute new concepts for in-game entertainment features and promotions.
  7. Capture Proof of Performance materials for end-of-season reviews
  8. Other duties as assigned in a complete and timely fashion.

Requirements

  1. General knowledge of video production equipment including camera, digital recording media, editing systems, etc.

Stadium Operations Internship - Normal CornBelters (Normal, IL)

The Normal CornBelters are looking for highly motivated individuals to contribute to the game day operations of The Corn Crib, as well as being exposed to the overall operations of a professional sports organization.

This is an unpaid position, and the individuals selected must require an internship for college credit.  As a member of the CornBelters Stadium Operations Staff, this individual will primarily focus on the areas of fan information, promotions, merchandise store, and other game day operation areas.  This position is rotating, giving all candidates the ability to experience every aspect of the Normal CornBelters on game days.  Additional learning opportunities are provided for those who request during the season.  However, this individual will not be limited in performing other duties as assigned.  Interns are expected to work the entire 52 game schedule.

Responsibilities Include (but are are not limited to):

  • Providing unwavering customer service
  • Set-up and breakdown of The Corn Crib events
  • Assisting in day to day facility operations
  • Working with front office staff and other staff on maintaining ballpark and/or other duties associated with logistics of all facility needs.

The Normal CornBelters are seeking individuals who are highly motivated, hard working and want to build a foundation in the sports industry. The overall goal is to assist in the ticket sales effort, learn the ticketing system, as well as being exposed to customer service, a vital aspect of all professional sports organizations.

This is an unpaid position, and the individual selected must require an internship for college credit, however, individuals who show great work ethic and can generate sales, have a greater chance of being hired immediatly.  As a member of the CornBelters Ticket Sales Department, this individual will primarily focus on the sale and service of all ticket packages (including full season seats, partial season seats, various group outings, and individual ticket orders) via telephone, in person meetings and through grassroots efforts (non-appointment meetings, inproptu "run-ins'). Individuals will not be limited in performing other duties as assigned. All representative will earn 10% on all new business acquired.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

♦Serving as a liaison between organization and ticket purchasers
♦Assisting with numerous out of season sales events

Field Maintenance

Team Store Management/Merchandising Intern - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Retail Management/Merchandising Intern for the 2017 season. This position will run from May through September, and be responsible for the overall management and ordering for the River City Rascals Team Store. This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports as well as the retail management and merchandising industries.

 Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of apparel and merchandise ordering for the Rascals Team Store
- Develop a merchandising and organizational plan for the Team Store to maximize revenue
- Take responsibility and ownership of the overall cleanliness and presentation of the Rascals Team Store
- Work directly with the Assistant GM and the Business Manager on ordering, pricing, and stocking
- Participate in scheduling and coordinating merchandise deliveries, working directly with our Business Manager
- Manage the team shop during some Rascals home games; balance/close out registers and complete nightly game reports
- Properly stock the team shop so that it is ready before the gates open each night
- Field phone calls & answer everyday questions
- Assist with Rascals promotions, theme nights, mascot and community appearances, tarp duties, and other aspects of the Rascals overall season preparation and execution as needed

Ticket Sales Intern - Summer 2017 - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, are currently seeking Ticket Sales Interns for the 2017 season. This position will run from May through September and will be an integral part of the Rascals ticket sales department during the 2017 season.  This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports and to garner more responsibility than the normal summer internship.

Responsibilities 

·         Administer superior customer service through the box office windows and phone lines.

·         Assist ticket sales staff members with sales responsibilities including sales calls, processing ticket
          orders, coordinating group events and birthdays.

·         Utilize TicketReturn and other resources in the creation of lead lists for new business prospecting.

·         Gain experience in making sales calls from generated lead lists.

·         Help to create and maintain a ticket sales database.

·         Represent the Rascals organization during community appearances and extra events at the stadium,
          including performing as the mascot.

·         Assist with Kids Club/Senior Sluggers/Reading programs for the 2017 season.

·         Take lead on a Rascals promotional theme night and assist with creatively developing new ways to
          boost attendance.

·         Manage a box office window during games and office hours.

·         Balance nightly game day ticket revenue.

·         Assist with all aspects of the Rascals overall season preparation and execution as needed.

The Culinary Intern will report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage.

DUTIES:
•    Establish a line of communication with the Catering Intern regarding food preparation for all the catering venues

The Catering Intern will oversee all catering venues at the facility, including several luxury suites and multiple picnic venues.  This person will manage a staff of at least twenty (hourly and volunteers) and will be responsible for the set-up, clean up, and operation of all catering venues.  He/She will also be responsible for communicating with the Director of Food and Beverage about food orders, billing options, and all customer concerns as it pertains to food.

·         Work with the Director of Food & Beverage on all wine and liquor orders and any other food service needs

·         Monitor and meet all health codes and liquor control laws

·         Maintain open lines of communication with suite servers and Culinary Intern regarding event needs, special circumstances and any other potential issues that may arise

The Beach Bums desire a person with a hunger to be in professional baseball and learn the business. Our internship is designed to provide the employee with training and experience of field upkeep and maintenance along with other aspects of minor league baseball. The role of this position is to assist in the day to day operations including but not limited to mowing, field repair, irrigation trouble shooting and repair, fertilizer application, equipment maintenance, and stadium maintenance. Requirements:

  • A desire to work hard and be in Minor League Baseball

Ticketing system knowledge, and understanding of baseball and the industry as well as computer skills is a plus.

  • Taking orders from various food suppliers
  • Stock the various areas of the Concession Department (Concession Stands, Beer Rooms, Ice Cream Rooms, Grills and Suites)
  • Take inventory of food/beverage items prior to each game (final inventory after game)
  • Oversee and train a staff of 45-65 concession employees
  • After a home-stand clean up the areas and get prepared for the next set of games

  • Learn the POS system that is used 
  • Help out in any other areas where needed
