Fall / Winter Internship - Joliet Slammers (Joliet, IL)

The Slammers are accepting resumes for internship positions for fall 2014.


Focus:
The Joliet Slammers are looking for eager college students who want to learn how the front office for a professional sports franchise runs in the off season. Interns will learn about and take part in marketing, community relations, sales and day to day operations of the office. Our goal is to teach you what it takes to be successful in this industry and your career.

Your primary responsibilities will include market research and data entry, outbound phone calls, and community event participation.  

We are looking for interns who can be in the office 10-20 hours a week. We are flexible with hours as class schedules are already determined.


Requirements:
The Slammers are looking for enthusiastic, determined individuals to handle several different responsibilities. We are looking for hard-working candidates that aren’t afraid to jump in and learn the business. You will be involved in several projects at the same time so time management and personal organization are important traits.
All Internships are for school credit or volunteer basis, weekend hours may be needed.

Fall / Winter Graphic Design Internship - Joliet Slammers (Joliet, IL)

 Introduction

The Joliet Slammers are committed to providing a quality educational experience through our seasonal internship program. Internships will provide you with the necessary tools to help you advance in the field of sports management and become a sought after member of the sports business world. The Slammers’ environment will provide the perfect laboratory for students in all aspects of sports to receive an integrated learning experience. No other learning experience provides the diversity and magnitude of possibilities. Although there is no job with the Slammers guaranteed following completion of the internship, the educational experience will be invaluable moving forward as you enter the sports business field.

Skills that will be enhanced by the Slammers program include:

2. Media Relations
3. Data Analysis
4. Game day promotions
5. Food and Beverage Operations
6. Community Relations

Eligibility

An emphasis will be placed on students seeking internships for an excellent educational experience. Therefore, it is preferred if students have achieved excellent academic achievement and would be receiving college credit for the internship experience.

Evaluations

The Joliet Slammers will provide each intern with evaluations in accordance with their respective school’s requirements. Further evaluations will be given by the Slammers full time employees.

Available Internship Emphasis

All Joliet Slammers internships are general education by design as each intern will have education in most departments listed below. However, each intern will be given an emphasis (listed below) to focus their individual education. Every intern will be required to present to other interns regarding their emphasis to enable a holistic learning experience. Each internship also requires participation in game day activities.

Graphic Design Internship (Fall 2014 and Winter 2014)

Education Supervisor: General Manager

Areas of Education

• Education in design and management of Slammers marketing materials ( Website, Social Media, Print)
• Usage of marketing materials to drive revenue and repeat customers
• Analysis of industry in designing new marketing material and programs
• Gameday photography and usage of photography in marketing materials

Ticket Sales Assistant Internship - Fall 2014 - Normal CornBelters Professional Baseball (Normal, IL) - Normal CornBelters Professional Baseball (Normal, IL)

 Internship Dates: Monday, September 15, 2014 – Friday, December 19, 2014 (Fall Semester)

The Normal CornBelters are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to contribute to the overall ticket sales effort of a professional sports organization.

This is a full-time internship position paid a monthly stipend plus commission. The individual selected must require an internship for college credit. As a member of the CornBelters Ticket Sales Department, this individual will primarily focus on the sale of all CornBelters ticket packages (including full season tickets, mini plans, and various group outings) via telephone and appointment. This individual will also perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Developing and utilizing a solid knowledge of the sales process (including cold calls)

* Providing unwavering customer service to clients

* Maintaining customer sales database

* Working hand-in-hand with interns and staff on stadium operations before, during, and after games

* Participating in community outreach programs and appearances

Completed sales, marketing, and/or communications courses are preferred. Housing and transportation will not be provided by the organization.

Stadium Operations Intern Fall 2014 - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of Stadium Operations Interns for the 2014 season. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Stadium Operations interns will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations.

Responsibilities:
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Additional duties assigned by Director of Stadium Operations
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances

Qualifications:
• Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment
• Some heavy lifting is requited
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Flexibility to work long days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
