Summer Internship: Sales - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, Oh)
The Lake Erie Crushers are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill internship positions in the sales department for the 2010 summer term. Interns will receive an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office, including ticket operations, marketing, operations, media relations, promotions and merchandising.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Assist sales staff with season ticket, mini-plan, group outings and sponsorship sales through cold calls and face to face interaction with local businesses and residents.
• Help the sales staff service current clients, making sure all sponsorship and contractual elements are fulfilled.
• Active participation in the community day program, including the creating of the community day program insert.
• Assist sales staff in creating proof of performance reports for sponsors
• Assist sales staff in with planning and execution of season ticket holder events
-Assist in the production, execution an distribution of sales materials throughout the season
-Assist with the set-up and tear down of sales, promotional and special event activities on game days
-Database managment
Qualifications:
• Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented, able to problem solve, able to multi-task efficiently, have solid communication skill and writing ability, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.
-Great phone and interpersonal skills required
• Efficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook is required
• Candidates in their junior or senior year of college will be given preference
• This is a full-time, seasonal position. Interns must be able to work weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and all game days until the conclusion of the game, including weekends.
• The internship starts May 1 and concludes at the end of the season (early September).
Compensation:
• $500 per month plus commission on season tickets and packages sold; or

Summer Internship: Media Relations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, Oh)
The Lake Erie Crushers are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill internship positions in the media relations department for the 2010 summer term. Interns will receive an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office, including sales, marketing, operations, promotions and merchandising.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Overseeing the team website, making daily updates and improvements
• The preparation of game-day stat packs for managers and media
• The daily production of the roster inserts on game days
• Coordinating media credentials and game day requests
• Assisting with the creation of the media guide and program
• Assisting the Director of Broadcasting with the game notes
• Supervising the operations of the press box during games
• Assist the Director of Media Relations with fulfilling media requests as needed
• Writing stories for the website, program and newsletter
• Assist with press releases
Qualifications:

Interns will receive an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office, including sales, marketing, operations, media relations, promotions and merchandising.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• The coordination of all game-day sponsor promotional elements, including P.A. reads, in-between inning contests, giveaways, concourse displays, pre-game ceremonies, first pitches and National Anthem
• Preparation of game-day scripts
• The set-up of all game day promotional props and prizes
• Help plan and execute special game day entertainment and activities including theme nights, bands, etc.
• Working in cooperation with the sales and media relations department to communicate upcoming promotions and increase attendance.
• Coordinate and attend player and mascot appearances in the community.

Summer Internship: Stadium Operations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)
The Lake Erie Crushers are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in stadium operations for the 2009 summer term. Interns will get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandise. This internship will work directly with the Assistant General Manager, Operations.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Recruiting, scheduling and managing game day employees.
• Training employees on the Crusher Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Establishing and maintaining the day-to-day operation of our guest service plan.
• Programming and supervising specific areas of the ballpark, such as our Kids Zone.
• All facets of fan relations – i.e. comments, requests and suggestions.
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans.
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events.
• Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals such as concerts, high school and college games, etc.
• Assisting with the management of ballpark security and implementing ideas and requests of ballpark security staff.
• All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services and in-game custodians/matrons.
• Serving as the liaison between the Crushers and various subcontractors.
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in concessions for the 2010 summer term. Interns will work directly with the Director of Concessions, learning all aspects of food services at a professional sports venue. Interns will also get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandise.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with recruiting, scheduling and managing of game day employees.
• Assist with the food preparation and set up for concession stands.
• Help coordinate and service group outings and picnic.
• Assist with inventory control

Internship: Ticket Operations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)
The Lake Erie Crushers are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in ticket operations for the 2010 summer term. Interns will get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s ticket office. The intern will also gain exposure to other areas of the front office, including operations, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandising.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Selling tickets to walk-up fans at the ticket office window.
• Processing single game and group orders.
• Handling phone orders and will call requests.
• Troubleshooting seating problems.
• Database management.
• Organize and execute bulk mailings.
• Assist the Box Office Manager with the supervision of game day box office staff.
• Help the Box Office Manager generate tracking reports on attendance and ticket/voucher redemption, group sales, etc.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented, able to problem solve and multi-task efficiently, have solid communication and writing skills, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.
• Efficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is required; experience with ticketing software preferred.
