Summer Internship: General - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015- September 2015). As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will be given the opportunity to experience and partake in all aspects of how a professional baseball team operates. This will give you the chance to learn which areas you are best suited for and enjoy the most as you prepare for a career in professional sports.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Game Day rotational program which will allow you to experience all business areas (Box Office, Promotions, Operations, Fan Services)
  • Help plan, promote, and execute promotion’s and theme nights
  • Opportunity to make sales calls, procure sponsorships, and sell tickets
  • Assist with: Public Relations, Community Development, Media Relations, Stadium Operations, Merchandising, Concessions, and various other office needs
  • Work all Crushers’ home games and events, as well as normal business hours Mon-Fri (10am-4pm)

CornBelters Community Crew Summer Internship - Normal CornBelters (Normal, Il)

Job Compensation: UNPAID / College Credit


The Normal CornBelters are seeking individuals who are highly motivated to contribute to the overall community relations efforts of a professional sports organization.

This is an unpaid internship, and the individual selected must require an internship for college credit. Housing and transportation will not be provided by the organization.

As a member of the CornBelters Community Crew, this internship is focused on interacting with fans of all ages throughout the community. The Community Crew will be promoting the CornBelters around the Bloomington-Normal area and nearby townships throughout the summer. These individuals will be responsible for various marketing and promotion efforts for the CornBelters.

Communications/Promotions Intern- Fall 2015 - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of Communications/Promotions Interns for Fall of 2015. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Responsibilities:

-Play an integral role in game day operations from mid-August through the remainder of the season

-Assist in the planning and execution of community outreach events

-Assist in maintaining the Rascals social media and email marketing presence through the off-season and continue growing the database

-Participate in scheduling and coordinating the team’s official mascot appearances and events and be available for these events

 -Write articles for the Rascals website

- Field phone calls & answer everyday questions

-Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists

Qualifications:
• Must be comfortable in front of large crowds and personable
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc.)
• Knowledge of social media sites and associated applications
• Must be willing and able to lift items up to 50 lbs. for set up and take down of games and events

Stadium Operations Intern Fall 2015 - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of Stadium Operations Interns for the 2015 season. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Stadium Operations interns will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations.

Responsibilities:
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Additional duties assigned by Director of Stadium Operations
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances

• Some heavy lifting is requited

Mascot Intern - Summer 2015 - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball team, a member of the Frontier League, are currently in search of a Mascot intern for the 2015 season. This position will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.  

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a part-time basis as Ruffy, the official mascot of the River City Rascals.
  • Performing mascot appearances in the community throughout the summer as well as your normal in-game duties.
  • Perform and/or provide support to community and team appearances. This may include but is not limited to sponsors, charities, media and private functions.
  • Represent the River City Rascals in an appropriate manner at all times, whether at the ballpark or out in the community.
  • Work directly with the Promotions coordinators on appearances and events.
  • Work with Promotions staff to develop, create and execute new skits, dance routines, and other forms of mascot-related entertainment.
  • Further the mission statement and reputation of the River City Rascals in the community.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Must be available for necessary community appearances which includes nights and weekends.
  • Must be well organized, dependable, and socially outgoing.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be local to St.Charles County and able to carry out appearances with little supervision.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours during the season (preferably April-September).
  • Fan friendly and outgoing individual.
  • Works well with children and other staff members at many events.
  • Must be able to work in a costume for extended periods of time.
  • Must have reliable transportation, and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Previous mascot experience preferred.

Internship Opportunities (2015 Season) - Traverse City Beach Bums (Traverse City, MI)

The Traverse City Beach Bums offer an outstanding internship program where college students or recent college graduates can gain valuable insight and knowledge in the professional sports industry.

The intention of the Traverse City Beach Bums internship program is to provide an extensive hands-on approach to career development that assists young adults with the selection of appropriate careers. The Beach Bums offer work positions that are meaningful and compatible with interns’ education along with their desired career. We also offer guidance into the job search process, assisting in resume writing, utilizing our network of peers in the industry to assist qualified individuals in seeking out available positions at the completion of their internship.

Essential Requirements:
• Undergraduate or Graduate student in good academic standing

Listed are the following internships available for the Traverse City Beach Bums 2015 season: -

PROMOTIONS Internship (One available) -- Start Date: ASAP

JOB DESCRIPTION: This internship will primarily expose students to game day promotions, sales and customer service, but will cover all facets of a professional baseball team’s front office.  Additional opportunities to work and learn on non-game days are required, at the discretion of the Traverse City Beach Bums staff. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Learn departmental procedure, answering Beach Bums phones, assisting front office staff, assisting customers and transferring sales calls to appropriate departments
  • Contribute to the Beach Bums website, actively participate in the team’s social media efforts
  • Produce game day script and map out between-inning promotions
  • Coordinate and supervise all on-field contests and promotions
  • Organize pre-game events including but not limited to: baseball buddies, first pitch, award ceremonies and special guests
  • Generate game day revenue through program, merchandise, Speed Pitch and Spinning Wheel sales
  • Assist with field preparation and general stadium maintenance and upkeep
  • **Work with promotions department in the planning and implementation of the Family FunDay Sunday Kids Run the Bases program**  

ALL INTERNS MUST

  • Strive to make the Traverse City Beach Bums a first-class professional sports organization
  • Work diligently to build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners, media, fans and the community
  • Work at all times to provide the ultimate entertainment experience to all patrons of the Traverse City Beach Bums
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager

Essential Requirements for all Interns:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in good academic standing
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to act quickly under pressure
  • Must be enthusiastic and able to keep up in a fast paced environment
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Superior organizational habits and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Positive, outgoing attitude and willingness to learn required
  • Must be able to lift 10-40 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be available to work all 2015 Beach Bums home games, including nights and weekends

HOURS:  Interns must be available to participate full-time, including evenings, weekends and holidays.  On non-game days the day generally is 9:30 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 9:30 am to 2 pm (plus possible evenings, weekends and holiday for player/driver/mascot appearances and other special circumstances.) On game days, the day generally begins at 9:30 am and ends after the game (sometimes as late as or later than 11 pm).  The Beach Bums 2015 home game schedule is for 51 home games, with home opener May 22nd and final regular season game Sunday, September 6th, 2015.
