Merchandise & Team Store Coordinator (INTERNSHIP) - Gateway Grizzlies (St. Louis, Mo)

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Merchandise & Team Store Coordinator Intern for the 2015 season. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of activities with the Grizzlies promotions department including: On field promotional items and props, Kid Zone set up & break down, pre-game giveaways, upkeep of promotional items/equipment, etc.
  • Work with Creative Department to create apparel designs & concepts
  • Help maintain web store. Includes item creation, inventory management, price adjustments, etc.
  • Receive customer orders
  • Receive customer orders via phone/ fax
  • Help stock merchandise stands and maintain inventory & sales
  • Send quote requests for promotional give-away items and negotiate pricing/ delivery
  • Help monitor inventory levels and place reorders/remove from inventory line as necessary
  • Process customer returns and assist with order issues (wrong size, defective item, pricing issues, etc.

Further Qualifications:
• Must be comfortable in front of large crowds
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Finance & Facility Management Intern – Gateway Grizzlies

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Finance & Facility Management Intern for the 2015 season. The position available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program. This position will require candidates to rely on analytical and quantitative problem solving skills in the areas of accounting, corporate finance, and operations.

This position will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations to provide the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities:
• Managing and coordinating employees within an assigned concession area
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals- concerts, college games, city championships, etc.
• All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services, in-game custodians and security
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Primary liaison between group sales department and catering department
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances with or as the mascot

Qualifications:
• Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment

There are three (3) available positions.

Responsibilities:

Summer Internship: Broadcasting - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers are looking for interns for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015-September 2015. As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will be given the opportunity to experience and partake in the broadcasting aspect of how a professional baseball team operates. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate interesting story lines and commentary while accurately describing the game to listeners on air with Broadcaster, Andy "Bull" Barch.
  • Compile and distribute game notes, stats and starting line-up.
  • Communicating through all Social Media outlets
  • Prepare game recaps each night to distribute to the media at the conclusion of the game.
  • Serve as the main liaison with the radio station.
  • Produce, coordinate and log all sponsor ads and reads during the broadcast.
  • Assist the Play-By-Play Broadcaster in writing press releases and stories for the webpage and program as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in sports play-by-play and color broadcasting
  • Knowledge of all applicable baseball Rules and Regulations
  • Skill in operation of control board, remote broadcasting and other related production equipment is liked but not necessary
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of Social Media
  • Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented, able to problem solve and think on their feet, juggle and prioritize multiple projects at one time to ensure completion in timely manner, a strong work ethic and a team work mentality.

  • Assist the Box Office Manager with the supervision of game day box office staff.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented, able to problem solve and multi-task efficiently, have solid communication and writing skills, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for a Concessions Intern for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015-September 2015).The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in concessions for the 2015 summer term. Interns will work directly with the Director of Concessions, learning all aspects of food services at a professional sports venue. Interns will also get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions, and merchandise.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling and managing of game day employees.
  • Assist with the food preparation and set up for concession stands.
  • Help coordinate and service group outings and picnic.
  • Assist with inventory control

Qualifications:

Summer Internship: Merchandise - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers, an independent league baseball team located in Avon, OH, are seeking a Merchandise Intern to help oversee the team’s souvenir store, the “Fan-Attic," for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015-September 2015). This is a full-time position and requires availability during all Crushers’ home games, as well as normal office hours (M-F 10am-4pm). This position will give you the opportunity to manage a retail operation, and learn how a professional baseball team operates. 

Responsibilities

  • Store merchandising, product display, inventory levels, and store cleanliness
  • Maintain online storefront including adding new merchandise to the website, updating inventory levels, and fulfilling orders
  • Bring a positive, helpful attitude to every point of contact with customers
  • Opportunity to manage store employees, including training, scheduling, and leading the performance of all associates
  • Bring new, creative ideas to the table in regards to merchandise and promotions for the Fan Attic
  • Preparing all reconciliations and deposits for the store as well as reporting shortages/overages
  • Ability and desire to go into the community, make sales calls, and plan and execute promotional nights throughout the season
  • Opportunity to learn Ticket Return ticketing system, and work in the Box Office
  • Also will have the opportunity to assist general interns with daily duties and participate in in-game activities

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Merchandising, or Sports Management, or a related department
  • Extremely organized, and able to multi-task
  • Able to work under minimal supervision

The Lake Erie Crushers are looking for accounting interns for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015-September 2015). As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will be given the opportunity to experience and partake in the financial aspect of how a professional baseball team operates. 

Summary:

Oversees all accounting and financial reporting functions. These functions include event settlements, account reconciliation, financial statement compilation and payroll. Further duties include Human Resources coordination and assisting the Accountant with budgeting and financial reporting as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Currently attending, or graduated from, an accredited university. (Business major- Accountancy)
  • Passion to work in the sports industry
  • Ability to think outside the box, and bring new ideas to the table
  • Maintain a professional demeanor
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks preferred, or similar accounting software

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns for the 2015 summer baseball season (May 2015-September 2015). The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in stadium operations for the 2015 summer term. Interns will get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandise. This internship will work directly with the Assistant General Manager, Operations.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, scheduling and managing game day employees.
  • Training employees on the Crusher Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Establishing and maintaining the day-to-day operation of our guest service plan.
  • Programming and supervising specific areas of the ballpark, such as our Kids Zone.
  • All facets of fan relations – i.e. comments, requests and suggestions.
  • Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans.
  • Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events.
  • Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals such as concerts, high school and college games, etc.
  • Assisting with the management of ballpark security and implementing ideas and requests of ballpark security staff.
  • All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services and in-game custodians/matrons.
  • Serving as the liaison between the Crushers and various subcontractors.
  • Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark.

Job Title: Summer Intern
Reports to: General Manager

Company Description: The Rockford Aviators professional baseball team will be entering their 23rd year as a franchise as a member of the Frontier League.  Our goal is to provide fun and affordable family entertainment to baseball fans in the Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin area.

Internship Overview: This position is designed to give interns experience in every aspect of professional sports including, but not limited to the following: Ticket Operations, Ticket Sales, Group Sales, Merchandising, Marketing and Promotions, Community Relations, Stadium Operations, and Concessions. The Rockford Aviators expect interns to consider themselves as part of the staff. Within minor league baseball, the front office staff performs duties at all levels of management and maintenance. From time to time, staff members are required to help sell tickets, work in the gift shop, help in concessions, answer phones, interact with players and coaches, pull tarp and several other tasks in addition to their primary duties. Everyone who works in minor league baseball wears many different ‘hats’. A willingness to go above and beyond one’s normal duties is expected.

Essential Duties:
• Be available to work all Rockford Aviators home games, ability to work non-traditional hours
• Assist with the organization of events including theme nights, picnics, birthday parties, Kid’s Club, etc.
• Assist the staff with pregame and postgame activities
• Represent the Rockford Aviators at community events and home games

Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist the ticket sales staff with phone calls, purchase orders, etc.
• Game day responsibilities include setup and takedown, information center, fan involvement, etc
• Establish relationships to create repeat business
• Assist with tarp pulls and other front office duties as needed
• Community involvement – ex: Street Team, distribution of pocket schedules, etc.

The Schaumburg Boomers are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated current college students to be a part of the club’s 2015 season. As a Boomers intern, you will get first-hand experience in the entire operation of a professional baseball franchise. This is a seasonal position which will last the duration of the season.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with day to day operations of the box office
• Log coupon redemption, voucher redemption and all aspects of single-game ticket purchases
• Work all game days and non-game day Saturdays in the box office
• Manage lost and found
• Manage tennis ball toss promotion, call winners and prepare prize materials
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
• Previous box office/ticketing experience (sports or elsewhere) strongly preferred
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic

The Schaumburg Boomers are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated current college students to be a part of the club’s 2015 season. As a Boomers intern, you will get first-hand experience in the entire operation of a professional baseball franchise. This is a seasonal position which will last the duration of the season.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with planning Boomers Youth Baseball Camp
• Help with fulfillment aspects of community programs such as Boomers Bookworms, Coop’s Summer Scholars and Coop’s Kids Club
• Manage donation requests
• Produce significant revenue for the ball club through sales of group outings and assist in general ticket sales
• Answer and transfer all inbound calls
• Work at the front desk on a daily basis to assist with directing inbound and outbound mail, package deliveries, office visitors, and maintenance staff
• Participate in scheduling and coordinating the team’s official mascot appearances and events
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Assist with stocking, inventory and general cleanliness of the team store and merchandise cart
• Serve as team lead for community events and parades; including staffing and preparation
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up

• Maintain a clean, functional and aesthetically appealing facility through hands-on maintenance work and frequent collaboration with Director of Facilities
• Serve as primary point of contact for all ballpark contracted staff and maintenance vendors, including but not limited to cleaning, EMT, security team, painting, trash removal, pest control, paper goods and others as needed
• Ensure every area of stadium is in pristine condition before, during and after every stadium event
• Set up and tear down materials for games and events
• Ensure club’s compliance with any and all health, safety and fire codes
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

Winter/ Spring General Internship - Washington Wild Things (Washington Wild Things, PA)

CONSOL Energy Park plays host to a myriad of games/events. Key among those are The Washington Wild Things, an independent minor league baseball team who will play its 14th season in the Frontier League in 2015 , and The Pennsylvania Rebellion, the newest team in the National Pro Fast Pitch League, who will kick off its 2nd season at the Washington facility in the spring of 2015. The management team is in search of applicants for internships to begin in January of 2015 through May 2015. The various positions provide interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain experience with the two teams as well as with the various other events that take place at the park.

The winter/spring internship gives the candidates the opportunity to work in the following departments of the business such as, but not limited to:
