Summer Internship: Video production & photogrphy - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, Oh)

We are looking for an intern interested in videography, video editing & photography for the 2016 season.   The position is unpaid, however academic credit is available if applicable.

Duties

  1. Shoot and edit news-style video packages of player interviews, community relations events and appearances, and other team-related events.
  2. Compile and edit footage into video highlight segments.
  3. Shoot game footage during live games and promotional events during stoppages.
  4. Archive, log, and maintain game footage for future use.
  5. Work with Team Photographer to edit photo’s for sale, web & social media distribution
  6. Generate and execute new concepts for in-game entertainment features and promotions.
  7. Other duties as assigned in a complete and timely fashion.

Requirements

  1. General knowledge of video production equipment including camera, digital recording media, editing systems, etc.
  2. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  3. Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines.
  4. Must be available for a majority of the games.

The Lake Erie Crushers, an independent league professional baseball team located in Avon, OH, are seeking a Web & Graphic Design intern to design its’ flyers and promotional materials for the 2016 summer baseball season, as well as work on the team's website.  This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, on your own schedule, with real-world applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Create Posters/Flyers for:
    • Promotional and Theme Nights
    • Nightly Group Welcome Signs
    • Crushers’ Events (i.e. Crushers’ Hitting Academy, Summer Baseball Camps, ect.)
    • Crushers’ Kid’s Club Posters/Flyers
  • Update the team website on a daily basis
  • Create mailers for Crushers’ events and group outings
  • Create staff name badges and VIP passes
  • Opportunity to expand into other areas (Merchandise, signage, ect)

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending, or recently graduated from, an accredited university (Graphic Design or comparable major preferred)

Summer Internship: Stadium Operations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns for the 2016 summer baseball season (May 2016-September 2016). The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in stadium operations for the 2016 summer term. Interns will get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandise. This internship will work directly with the VP of Stadium Operations.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, scheduling and managing game day employees.
  • Training employees on the Crusher Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Establishing and maintaining the day-to-day operation of our guest service plan.
  • Programming and supervising specific areas of the ballpark, such as our Kids Zone.
  • All facets of fan relations – i.e. comments, requests and suggestions.
  • Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans.
  • Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events.
  • Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals such as concerts, high school and college games, etc.
  • Assisting with the management of ballpark security and implementing ideas and requests of ballpark security staff.
  • All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services and in-game custodians/matrons.
  • Serving as the liaison between the Crushers and various subcontractors.
  • Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be reliable, detailed oriented, able to problem solve, able to efficiently multi-task, have solid communication skill and writing ability, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.
  • Efficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is required
  • Candidates in their junior or senior year of college will be given preference
  • This is a full-time, seasonal position. Interns must be able to work weekdays from 10am to 4pm and all game days until the conclusion of the game.

The Normal CornBelters are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to contribute to the customer service effort of a professional sports organization. This is a part-time internship position, and the individual selected must require an internship for college credit. As a member of the CornBelters Ticket Sales Department, this individual will primarily focus on servicing all CornBelters ticket packages (including full season tickets, partial season tickets, and various group outings) via telephone, email and in-person meetings. This individual will not be limited in performing other duties as assigned.

* Serving as a liaison between organization and ticket purchasers
* Providing excellent customer service to all package ticket purchasers

Ticket Sales Assistant Internship - Summer 2016 - Normal CornBelters Professional Baseball (Normal, IL)

Internship Dates: Monday, May 2, 2016 – Friday, September 9, 2016 (Summer semester)

The Normal CornBelters are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to contribute to the overall ticket sales effort of a professional sports organization.

This is a full-time internship position paid by commission.  The individual selected must require an internship for college credit.  As a member of the CornBelters Ticket Sales Department, this individual will primarily focus on the sale of all CornBelters ticket packages (including full season tickets, mini plans, and various group outings) via telephone and appointment.  This individual will also perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Developing and utilizing a solid knowledge of the sales process (including cold calls)

* Providing unwavering customer service to clients

* Maintaining customer sales database

* Working hand-in-hand with interns and staff on stadium operations before, during, and after games

* Participating in community outreach programs and appearances

The Normal CornBelters are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to contribute to the overall Business Management effort of a professional sports organization.

This is an unpaid position, and the individual selected must require an internship for college credit.  As a member of the CornBelters, this individual will primarily focus on Accounting, Merchandise operations, Human Resources, Ticket Sales operations and Administration duties. However, this individual will not be limited in performing other duties as assigned.

Graphic Design Summer Intern - 2016 Season - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

Description:

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Graphic Design Intern for the 2016 season. This position will run from May through September, and be responsible for assisting the Rascals promotions, website and social media departments.  This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports and to garner more responsibility than the normal summer internship.

 Responsibilities:

- Assist in the planning and marketing of promotional nights for the 2016 season
- Create and design flyers, digital advertisements, logos, signage, and promotional materials to promote the  
  Rascals season

The River City Rascals are entering their 18th season as members of the professional, independent Frontier League at beautiful T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon, MO. O’Fallon is located 30 miles west of St. Louis, MO.

The Rascals are seeking highly motivated college students or recent graduates that are passionate about beginning a career in professional sports.  This position will gain experience in several internship roles for the summer of 2016. These roles include but will not be limited to ticket sales, sponsorship activation, stadium operations, grounds crew responsibilities, game day promotions, grass roots marketing efforts, media relations, and merchandise.

QUALIFICATIONS

All candidates must be reliable and willing “to do whatever it takes” to get the job done. Candidates must be able to multi-task, have sound communication skills, and provide unwavering customer service to our fans. The ability to obtain college course credit is recommended.

STADIUM OPERATIONS

Persons entering a Stadium Operations Internship will work closely with the team’s General Manager and the grounds crew to ensure that T.R. Hughes Ballpark is a safe and clean environment for our fans and players. This is not an office job.

Non game day responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Daily upkeep of stadium includes moving, cleaning, and general maintenance of ballpark.
- Work and manage extra events including high school baseball, 5K and 10K Runs, youth baseball, youth softball, and more.
- Inventory of all janitorial and grounds supplies.

Game day responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Above mentioned.
- Setup and take down for batting practice.

TICKET SALES

Persons entering a Ticket Sales Internship will engage in all sales and services including individual, group, season, and partial season tickets. Training on TicketReturn, the Rascals ticketing software, will be provided in addition to a full range of sales training.

Non-Game Day Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Make outbound phone calls to prospective fans.
- Organize ticket sales database.
- Act as liaison between Rascals ticket sales staff and fans to help manage catering packages for group sales.
- Organize additional features for group packages including raffle forms, wristbands, giveaways, and more.

Game Day Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Above mentioned at lesser capacity.
- Arrange and clean all hospitality areas in the ballpark.

PROMOTIONS

Persons entering a Promotions Internship will engage in all on-field and off-field promotions both game and non-game days. Promotions Interns will also support all River City Rascals social media efforts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other resources.

Non-Game Day Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Organize and prepare all props for upcoming Rascals games.
- Help prepare game day script for on-field host and public address announcer.
- Organize all National Anthem singers, performers, first pitches, parades, and more.
- Compile specific lists and outside events of target audiences for upcoming events. I.E. – Scout Campout Night, search for events involving Scouts Troops to attend with mascot, players, or coaches to promote our event.
- Attend as many outside events as possible to promote the River City Rascals.

- Assist in all sponsorship activation and fulfillment as needed.

Game Day responsibilities include but not limited to:

RETAIL/MERCHANDISING

This position will assist the Business Manager and Assistant General Manager with the overall planning, ordering, and execution of the River City Rascals Team Store. 

Non-Game Day Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of apparel and merchandise ordering for the Rascals Team Store
- Develop a merchandising and organizational plan for the Team Store to maximize revenue
- Work directly with the Assistant GM and the Business Manager on ordering, pricing, and stocking
- Monitor daily/monthly inventory levels both in store and in storage
- Participate in scheduling and coordinating merchandise deliveries
- Responsible for completing phone orders and non-game day purchases

Game Day Responsibilities:
- Manage the team shop during some Rascals home games
- Take responsibility and ownership of the overall cleanliness and presentation of the Rascals Team Store
- Refresh and stock the team shop so that it is ready before the gates open each night
- Provide excellent customer service and operate a cash register
- Close out store and complete Team Store Sales Report at the end of the game

SUMMARY:

The Catering Intern will Assist in overseeing all catering venues at the facility, including several luxury suites and multiple picnic venues.  This person will service a staff of at least twenty (hourly and volunteers) and will be responsible for the set-up, clean up, and operation of all catering venues.  He/She will also be responsible for communicating with the Director of Food and Beverage and Catering Manager about food orders, billing options, and all customer concerns as it pertains to food.

The Catering Intern will report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage and Catering Manager.

DUTIES:

· Schedule, manage, and train a suite service and picnic staff of approximately 20 servers, bartenders, and non-profit groups

· Communicate with the Catering Manager on suite serving times and payment options

· Communicate all food orders to kitchen staff in a timely manner, and complete hot/cold sheets for every event

· Work with the Director of Food & Beverage on all wine and liquor orders and any other food service needs

· Use a “hands on” approach to management and employee training

· Monitor and meet all health codes and liquor control lawsaccording to the state of Illinois

· Maintain open lines of communication with suite servers and Kitchen Manager regarding event needs, special circumstances and any other potential issues that may arise

Group Sales Intern (Jan - May) - Traverse City Beach Bums (Traverse City, MI)

GROUP SALES Internship -- Start Date: February 15th or sooner  END Date: May 15th or later

The Traverse City Beach Bums Professional Baseball Club is looking for a dynamic, high-energy personality for the position of Group Sales intern for the 2016 off-season season. Those who complete our internship and training program will be strongly considered for a full-time position at the end of the program or upon graduation. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in good academic standing
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to act quickly under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior organizational habits and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • Successful applicants should have a genuine interest in the business of venue concessions, be highly motivated and hard working

JOB DESCRIPTION: This internship will primarily expose students to ticketing, sponsorship sales, event planning, promotions, and customer service, but will cover all facets of a professional baseball team’s front office.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Actively sell group outings, group tickets, and hospitality packages:
      - Seeking and implementing best sales and service practices
      - Networking at outside events
      - Lead generation
• Develop and plan nightly events
• Renew group accounts; establish and maintain strong relationships with key group contacts
• Coordinate and execute a minimum sales goal per day on any and all potential customers through cold calling, prospecting and referrals from current customers
• Meet weekly with General Manager and provides accurate updates on prospecting activity, sales performance, outside appointments, event recaps, and account management
• Conduct sales related activities in the field and the office as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

HOURS:  

  • 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday (off-season hours)
  • Weekend events as required

Intern Salary: $500/month stipend

Merchandise Intern (2016 Season) - Traverse City Beach Bums (Traverse City, MI)

MERCHANDISE Internship -- Start Date: May 1st or sooner  END Date: September 5th or later

The Traverse City Beach Bums Professional Baseball Club is looking for a dynamic, high-energy personality for the position of Promotions/Special Events intern for the 2016 season. Those who complete our internship and training program will be strongly considered for a full-time position at the end of the season or upon graduation. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be available to work all 48 Beach Bums home games plus special events
  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in good academic standing
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to act quickly under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior organizational habits and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • Successful applicants should have a genuine interest in the business of venue concessions, be highly motivated and hard working

JOB DESCRIPTION: This internship will primarily expose students to gift shop management, inventory control, product design and ordering, cash handling and budgeting, and sales and customer service but will cover all facets of a professional baseball team’s front office.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work direclty for Director of Merchandise
  • Assist with planning, marketing, and execution of the Beach Bums merchandise and promotional items for the Traverse City Beach Bums Beach Bums and outside events
  • Assist with planning, ordering, and execution the promotions for all 48 Beach Bums home games
  • Create and sell marketing campaigns to help promote local businesses
  • Contribute to the Beach Bums website, web store, actively participate in the team’s social media efforts
  • Assist with field preparation and general stadium maintenance and upkeep 
  • Organize and attend outside promotional events and assist with grassroots marketing efforts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

HOURS:  

  • Non-game days 9:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 9:30 am to 2 pm
  • Game days 9:30 am until the game is over (generaly 11 pm or later) 

Intern Salary: $500/month stipend
