The Evansville Otters have full-time paid internships available for the 2017 season. The internship positions are summer positions that start the first of May and run through the conclusion of the season (end of August or early September).

The Evansville Otters play in the 12-team independent Frontier League as our league’s senior member. Playing at Historic Bosse Field, interns have a chance to operate in one of America’s last remaining true baseball cathedrals.

Built in 1915, Bosse Field has been home to many teams and has seen 99 Hall of Famers take the field. Bosse Field is one of three stadiums to be used in the filming “A League of Their Own”. If you are looking to get that foot in the door of sports, there is no better place to start than with the Evansville Otters!

Responsibilities:

  • Manage preparation for all picnic areas
  • Manage gameday staff in picnic areas
  • Communicate with group leaders to ensure fulfillment and customer satisfaction
  • Assist Fulfillment Manager in preparing and executing all group events
  • Communicate with Concessions Manager for food preparation for all group events
  • Assist in inventory controls in picnic areas
  • Assist in stocking picnic areas for all games and events
  • Represent the organization at community events
  • Work all Otters home games and stadium events

Responsibilities:
• Field phone calls and answer everyday questions about the Gateway Grizzlies Organization
• Assist in making sales calls from generated leads lists
• Assist in the creation of leads lists to be used for sales calls
• Be available for community appearances with or as the mascot
• Balancing of game day revenue

Qualifications:
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.)

Duties:

·         Grizzlies Radio Network #2 Broadcaster during 48 home games (play-by-play innings based on experience).

·         Conduct Pregame/Postgame interviews for radio.

·         Daily video/audio editing.

·         Assist in production of daily media materials, including game notes, game recaps, player features, rosters, lineups, and statistics. 

·         Assist in managing team website.

·         Assist with daily media relations tasks, including the organization of postgame press conferences. 

·         Assist in other areas of gameday and non-gameday operations. 

Requirements:

·         Previous play-by-play experience.

·          Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Proficiency and experience in audio/video editing.

·         A great attitude and work ethic.

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of skilled and motivated Interns for the 2018 season. The three (3) positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Responsibilities:

This individual will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Design as an assistant and direct representative of the Marketing Department to Gateway Ticket Office, Promotions Department, and Corporate Sales Offices. This individual will also utilize creative skills to create graphic art to aid the overall brand specifics of the Marketing Dept. 

Mass Media Marketing

  • Official Social Media Manager
  • Handle survey and market research within GCS Ballpark
  • Flyers, brochures, and simple graphic creator
  • Web and host site administrative assistant

Media Relations:

  • Team photography and video editing
  • Show and production management
  • Post-game media liaison and engineer

Creative Design:

  • Design game-day graphics and art
  • Compile brand specific photos, flyers, and marketing material
  • Utilize skills to create brand specific fan engagement items

Qualifications:

Must be familiar with Mac and Windows programs. Preferred working understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (ie. Photoshop, illustrator, inDesign, etc.) as well as video editing software (iMovie, FinalCut, After Effects).

  • Good project management skills.

  • Sound knowledge of marketing principles.

Stadium & Facility Operations Intern – Gateway Grizzlies

Stadium Operations interns will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations to provide the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities:
• Managing and coordinating employees within an assigned concession area
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals- concerts, college games, city championships, etc.
• All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services, in-game custodians and security
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Primary liaison between group sales department and catering department
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances with or as the mascot

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Merchandise & Team Store Coordinator Intern for the 2018 season. The position available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of activities with the Grizzlies promotions department including: On field promotional items and props, Kid Zone set up & break down, pre-game giveaways, upkeep of promotional items/equipment, etc.
  • Work with Creative Department to create apparel designs & concepts
  • Help maintain web store. Includes item creation, inventory management, price adjustments, etc.
  • Receive customer orders
  • Receive customer orders via phone/ fax
  • Help stock merchandise stands and maintain inventory & sales
  • Send quote requests for promotional give-away items and negotiate pricing/ delivery

Applicants must be available to start by May 1, 2018 and potentially work through September 20, 2018.

Responsibilities:

- Broadcast all regular season and playoff Rascals games during the 2018 season. You are REQUIRED to broadcast all regular season games, and any remaining games should the team make the playoffs.

-Be responsible for the entirety of your program, including providing proper equipment and understanding the online format through CityLinkTV.com.

-Be an upstanding representative of the Rascals organization at home and on the road

-Travel with the team on all road trips, and be professional when interacting with players and coaches

-Act as a liaison between the local media and the Rascals during the season, reaching out to media partners to promote our games and extra events

-Strive to make contacts in the community that could lead to ticket or sponsorship sales for the Rascals organization

Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities
-Assist in the execution of print material.
-Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts.
-Create visual aspects of marketing materials, websites and other media, including infographics.

Competencies and Qualifications
-Comfortable working in wide range of media utilizing Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and video editing software.
-Demonstrable graphic design skills with a portfolio showcasing graphic design experience.
-Self-starter who is motivated to build new programs and exceed expectations with excellent communication skills.
-Up to date with industry leading software and technologies (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop etc).
-Night and weekend work required, including working special events.


Compensation
-This is an unpaid position. Internships are eligible for college credit, as well as future placement in part-time and full-time positions with the CornBelters.
