Merchandise & Team Store Coordinator (INTERNSHIP) - Gateway Grizzlies (St. Louis, Mo)

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Merchandise & Team Store Coordinator Intern for the 2015 season. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of activities with the Grizzlies promotions department including: On field promotional items and props, Kid Zone set up & break down, pre-game giveaways, upkeep of promotional items/equipment, etc.
  • Work with Creative Department to create apparel designs & concepts
  • Help maintain web store. Includes item creation, inventory management, price adjustments, etc.
  • Receive customer orders
  • Receive customer orders via phone/ fax
  • Help stock merchandise stands and maintain inventory & sales
  • Send quote requests for promotional give-away items and negotiate pricing/ delivery
  • Help monitor inventory levels and place reorders/remove from inventory line as necessary
  • Process customer returns and assist with order issues (wrong size, defective item, pricing issues, etc.

Further Qualifications:
• Must be comfortable in front of large crowds
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Finance & Facility Management Intern – Gateway Grizzlies

The Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Finance & Facility Management Intern for the 2015 season. The position available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program. This position will require candidates to rely on analytical and quantitative problem solving skills in the areas of accounting, corporate finance, and operations.

This position will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations to provide the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities:
• Managing and coordinating employees within an assigned concession area
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals- concerts, college games, city championships, etc.
• All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services, in-game custodians and security
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Primary liaison between group sales department and catering department
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances with or as the mascot

Qualifications:
• Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment

General Internship Winter/Spring - Joliet Slammers (Joliet, IL)

The Joliet Slammers are seeking individuals who are looking to gain experience in the sports industry.  The Slammers are a member of the Frontier League and play all home games at Silver Cross Field located in downtown Joliet.

We are looking for individuals who would like to gain industry experience and learn this business through a variety of tasks primarily focused on the sales department.  Projects may include but are not limited to designing a partnership program for specific clients, representing the Slammers at various community events with or without our mascot, database entry, writing of press releases, driving sales at offsite events and promotional appearances.

Additional skills not required but beneficial include graphic design, maintaining/constructing a website, various media and marketing needs.

Candidates must be able to earn college credit and hours may vary based on candidate’s availability.  Slammers are looking for a minimum of 15 hours a week for all interns.  This is an unpaid internship

Sales

-       Make sales calls to potential season ticket holders, group clients, and sponsorship partners

Customer Service Assistant Internship - Spring 2015 - Normal CornBelters (Normal, IL)

The Normal CornBelters are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to contribute to the customer service effort of a professional sports organization. This is a part-time internship position, and the individual selected must require an internship for college credit. As a member of the CornBelters Ticket Sales Department, this individual will primarily focus on servicing all CornBelters ticket packages (including full season tickets, partial season tickets, and various group outings) via telephone, email and in-person meetings. This individual will not be limited in performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Serving as a liaison between organization and ticket purchasers
* Providing excellent customer service to all package ticket purchasers
* Maintaining customer sales database
* Participating in community outreach programs
* Assisting with gameday operations during the season

- Help create, write and/or produce team marketing e-mail blasts and sales collateral

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Retail Management/Merchandising Lead Intern for the 2015 season. This position will run from January through September, and be responsible for the overall management and ordering for the River City Rascals Team Store. This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports as well as the retail management and merchandising industries.

- Assist in the planning and execution of apparel and merchandise ordering for the Rascals Team Store
- Develop a merchandising and organizational plan for the Team Store to maximize revenue
- Take responsibility and ownership of the overall cleanliness and presentation of the Rascals Team Store
- Work directly with the Assistant GM and the Business Manager on ordering, pricing, and stocking
- Participate in scheduling and coordinating merchandise deliveries, working directly with our Business Manager
- Manage the team shop during some Rascals home games; teach and supervise summer interns during games
- Direct summer interns on how to properly stock the team shop so that it is ready before the gates open each night

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of Stadium Operations Interns for the 2015 season. The positions available will give candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Stadium Operations interns will work directly with the Director of Stadium Operations.

Responsibilities:
• Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans
• Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events
• Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark
• Additional duties assigned by Director of Stadium Operations
• Insuring that facility is prepared to accommodate group outings each night
• Be available for community appearances

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of an Assistant  Director of Stadium Operations. This position will report directly to the Director of Stadium Operations and will be responsible for the following:

 Seasonal Job March 1 to November 1.

Field Maintenance

  • Mowing
  • Edging
  • Mound and Plate Rebuilds
  • Assist in fertilization and major projects
  • General upkeep
  • Equipment Maintenance and upkeep
  • Organization of all grounds areas
  • Water

Stadium Maintenance

  • Responsible for cleanliness of stadium at all times including post-game
  • Inspecting the ballpark on a daily basis for wear and tear
  • Maintain inside grass
  • Ordering and inventory of janitorial supplies
  • Signage and tent maintenance
  • Continual upkeep on restrooms, concourse, and concession areas
  • Staying in communication with city officials on ballpark water, electric, etc.
  • Working with sponsorship department on signage changes in a timely manner
  • Clubhouse upkeep and maintenance

Extra Events

  • Procure extra events for T.R. Hughes Ballpark
  • Oversee events (including weekends)
  • Maintain working calendar with front office staff and city

Desired Qualifications:

• Candidates will also be tasked to learn the logistics behind operating a kitchen such as ordering, inventory, menu creation, product development, and menu tastings

• Assist in and learn the workings of an industrial kitchen, candidate will be working in all aspects of the kitchen, including set up and breakdown of concessions, and catering

• Maintaining safe food handling procedures and kitchen sanitation at all times in accordance with health department guidelines

Qualifications:

• Must be actively enrolled in a culinary arts degree curriculum at an accredited culinary arts school or program

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Keep up with Accounting procedures including contracts, filing, and presentation of reports

• Assist with record keeping

• Assist in data entry, including entering payables and receivables

• Ensure accuracy on pricing of invoices compared to our negotiated prices for the season

• Reconcile all cash and pick up drops pertaining to concession stand inventory sheets

• Assist in setting up cash banks for concession stands

• Assist in making change and cash pick up during games

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university

• Must be able to earn college credit for internship

• Majoring in Accounting or Sports Management

• Knowledge of Quick Books and Excel a plus
