Summer Internship: Stadium Operations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns for the 2016 summer baseball season (May 2016-September 2016). The Crushers are seeking college students, who are passionate about working in the sports industry to fill an internship position in stadium operations for the 2016 summer term. Interns will get an inside look at the business of baseball, gaining experience in all areas of a professional sport team’s front office operations, including ticketing, sales, marketing, media relations, promotions and merchandise. This internship will work directly with the VP of Stadium Operations.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting, scheduling and managing game day employees.
  • Training employees on the Crusher Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Establishing and maintaining the day-to-day operation of our guest service plan.
  • Programming and supervising specific areas of the ballpark, such as our Kids Zone.
  • All facets of fan relations – i.e. comments, requests and suggestions.
  • Creating and maintaining a clean, safe and fun ballpark for all fans.
  • Assisting in inventory controls and purchasing to ensure that the facility is adequately stocked for all events.
  • Pursuing and coordinating all aspects of ballpark rentals such as concerts, high school and college games, etc.
  • Assisting with the management of ballpark security and implementing ideas and requests of ballpark security staff.
  • All facets of employee supervision, including janitorial services and in-game custodians/matrons.
  • Serving as the liaison between the Crushers and various subcontractors.
  • Assisting in all facets of preventative maintenance for the ballpark.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be reliable, detailed oriented, able to problem solve, able to efficiently multi-task, have solid communication skill and writing ability, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.
  • Efficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is required
  • Candidates in their junior or senior year of college will be given preference
  • This is a full-time, seasonal position. Interns must be able to work weekdays from 10am to 4pm and all game days until the conclusion of the game.
  • The internship starts mid May and concludes at the end of the season in early September.

  This is an unpaid internship, and no housing is provided. College credit can be awarded for completion of this internship.

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns for the 2016 summer baseball season (May 2016 - September 2016). As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will be given the opportunity to experience and partake in all aspects of how a professional baseball team operates. This will give you the chance to learn which areas you are best suited for and enjoy the most as you prepare for a career in professional sports.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Game Day rotational program which will allow you to experience all business areas (Box Office, Promotions, Operations, Fan Services)
  • Help plan, promote, and execute promotion’s and theme nights
  • Opportunity to make sales calls, procure sponsorships, and sell tickets
  • Assist with: Public Relations, Community Development, Media Relations, Stadium Operations, Merchandising, Concessions, and various other office needs
  • Work all Crushers’ home games and events, as well as normal business hours Mon-Fri (10am-4pm)

Summer Internship:Ticket Operations - Lake Erie Crushers (Avon, OH)

The Lake Erie Crushers are looking for interns for the 2016 summer baseball season (May 2016-September 2016. As a Lake Erie Crushers’ intern you will be given the opportunity to experience and partake in the ticketing aspect of how a professional baseball team operates. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Selling tickets to walk-up fans at the ticket office window.
  • Processing single game and group orders.
  • Handling phone orders and will call requests.
  • Troubleshooting seating problems.
  • Database management.
  • Organize and execute bulk mailings.
  • Assist the Box Office Manager with the supervision of game day box office staff.
  • Help the Box Office Manager generate tracking reports on attendance and ticket/voucher redemption, group sales, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented, able to problem solve and multi-task efficiently, have solid communication and writing skills, a strong work ethic, stellar customer service skills and a team work mentality.

Internship Opportunities (Fall 2016) - River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO)

Description

River City Rascals – 2016 Fall Internships
August 2016 - December 2016

The River City Rascals are entering their 18th season as members of the professional, independent Frontier League at beautiful CarShield Field in O’Fallon, MO. O’Fallon is located 30 miles west of St. Louis, MO.

The Rascals are seeking highly motivated college students or recent graduates that are passionate about beginning a career in professional sports.  This position will gain experience rotating through several departments throughout the fall of 2016. These roles include but will not be limited to ticket sales, sponsorship activation, stadium operations, grounds crew responsibilities, in-game promotions, grass roots marketing efforts, media relations, and merchandise.  The Rascals fall interns will also play in vital role in the planning of the 2017 season.

QUALIFICATIONS
All candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs, be reliable and willing “to do whatever it takes” to get the job done while maintaining a positive attitude. Candidates must be able to multi-task, have sound communication skills, and provide unwavering customer service to our fans.

This is an unpaid position, with availability to maintain a part-time job outside of your internship.  The ability to obtain college course credit is available. Fall interns will be expected to work ALL Rascals home games as well as maintain a consistent office hours schedule.          

STADIUM OPERATIONS/CONCESSIONS
Persons rotating through a Stadium Operations Internship will work closely with the team’s Director of Stadium Operations and the grounds crew to ensure that Carshield Field is a safe and clean environment for our fans and players. Interns will assist with the daily upkeep of the stadium, manage extra events (non-Rascals games), provide inventory of janitorial and grounds supplies and assist with setup and take down for batting practice. Persons rotating through Concessions & Catering will report directly to the Director of Food and Beverage assisting with food and beverage deliveries, managing the warehouse, stocking concession stands, and setting up catering/party areas.  This is not an office job.

TICKET SALES
Persons rotating through a Ticket Sales Internship will engage in all sales and services including individual, group, season, and partial season tickets. Training on TicketReturn, the Rascals ticketing software, will be provided along with cold calling and sales training experience.

PROMOTIONS
Persons rotating through a Promotions Internship will engage in all on-field and off-field promotions both game and non-game days as well as attend community/mascot appearances.  Promotions Interns will also have the opportunity to write press releases, build game day scripts and plan future promotional nights.

RETAIL/MERCHANDISING
Persons rotating through a Retail/Merchandising position will assist the Business Manager and Assistant General Manager with the overall planning, ordering, and execution of the River City Rascals Team Store.  They will be responsible for monitory inventory levels, store layout, operating a cash register and run end of the night game reports.

Ticket Operations Intern - Schaumburg Boomers (Schaumburg, IL)

The Schaumburg Boomers are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated current college students to be a part of the club’s 2016 season. As a Boomers intern, you will get first-hand experience in the entire operation of a professional baseball franchise. This is a seasonal position which will last the duration of the season.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with day to day operations of the box office
• Log coupon redemption, voucher redemption and all aspects of single-game ticket purchases

• Work with ticket sales department to promote ticket plans and group outings

• Produce significant revenue for the ball club through sales of group outings, ticket bundles and assist in general ticket sales
• Work all game days and non-game day Saturdays in the box office
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
• Previous box office/ticketing experience (sports or elsewhere) strongly preferred
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy


Compensation is $500 per month and $10 per case of pocket schedules delivered.

Strong consideration will be given to candidates who are able to work from the beginning of the season until the end of the season but it is not a requirement.
