Food and Beverage Management Intern - Normal Cornbelters (Normal, Il)

The Normal Cornbelters, a professional baseball team in the Frontier League is looking for a Food and Beverage Intern(s).    The intern will work directly for the Food and Beverage Director for the Normal Cornbelters 2017 home games and other events at the "Corn Crib"  Duties include, but not limited to, all aspects of food and beverage operation including, inventory, placing orders, vendor relations,  stocking stands, some accounting, cleaning, food safety and scheduling.  

Intern will also have the ability to work with the front office staff to ensure a great fan exerience.  

Expectations, Duties and Skills:

  • Experience in Food and Beverage preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety preferred.
  • Abilty to multi task and be punctual.
  • Must be willing to work long hours, weekends and Holdiays.
  • Good time managment skills.  
  • Computer skills a plus.  
  • Must have an interest in Food and Beverage or Sports.  

This is an unpaid internship.

Catering Manager (Seasonal) - River City Rascals (O Fallon, MO)

The River City Rascals Professional Baseball Team, a member of the Frontier League, is currently in search of a Catering Manager for the 2017 season.  Under general supervision of Operations Director, the Catering Manager will supervise all in-house catered events, including various service styles.

Responsibilities & Duties

·         Plan and coordinate all aspects of catering, including meeting with clients (if applicable), set up
          execution and breakdown, staffing, sanitation, and fiscal responsibilities.

·         Work with management and staff to ensure cost effective pricing and generate positive revenue from
          events.

·         Supervise staff during all aspects of catered events to ensure high quality service standards and
          presentations are met.

·         Meet with clients (if applicable) to coordinate event-specific details and special requests and develop
          plan to fulfill or exceed client’s expectations.

·         Use information on function sheets to coordinate food and beverage services for scheduled events.

·         Provide and communicate a layout/ diagram of catering events, including details of service.

·         Maintain high sanitation and safety standards in all catering storage rooms and other catering areas.

·         Control all labor schedules in accordance with budgeted costs.

·         Acquire and maintain knowledge of current food and catering trends.

·         Maintain proper stock level of all catering equipment

·         Assist with training, evaluating, and supervising of all catering staff, may include completing staff        
          schedules and providing information about catering events to staff.

·         Related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         High School graduation and one to three years of experience in catering or related food service area

·         Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format.

·         Knowledge of food preparation, presentation and customer service

·         Basic computer skills as required by department.

·         Previous relevant work experience strongly preferred

Pay Type: Salary

Seasonal - Weekly Schedule

An average work week would be based on the teams/stadium schedule

Director of Food & Beverage - Traverse City Beach Bums (Traverse City, MI)

The Traverse City Beach Bums are looking for a qualified individual to be responsible for the overall food service operation, including all concessions for gamedays and special events.  Please note, this is not an internship.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Develop long and short-range financial statements consistent with Beach Bums objectives

• Develop new menus for the concessions that incorporate ballpark classics with local favorites

• Creates menu & beverage list prices, and is responsible for the selection of products and décor of items used within the ballpark’s concession areas

• Responsible for purchasing products to fill special requests (birthday parties, party patio groups, etc.) ensures accurate quantities of food and beverages are ordered

• Monitors activities of employees to achieve objectives and ensures adequate staffing

• Investigates all food quality and service complaints

• Supervision and training of game day staff and non-profit groups

• Responsible for overseeing daily preparation and shut down processes

• Oversee concessions, picnic and suite catering operations

• Handling guest relations especially with groups

• Oversees daily stocking and inventory of all concession areas, including post-game inventory

• Maintaining clean and safe concession stands, monitoring all concession equipment with repairs as needed

• Preparing and maintaining daily, monthly and seasonal reports

• Preparing employee schedules, overseeing time card management

• Maintaining employee files and staff evaluations

• Monitoring, meeting and communicating all health code and liquor control laws

• Maintaining inventory reports • Assisting as needed with concessions operations

• Establish and meet department budgets, monitor food and labor costs on a daily basis, establish vendor relationships, maintaining proper inventory levels and ensuring the cleanliness of all food areas

OFF-SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES -- Work in front office with sponsorship/advertising sales. Meet monthly sales goals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Minimum of two years’ management experience in multi-unit food and beverage operation is required; pervious stadium related experience of similar size or larger venue is strongly preferred

• Must have experience with operational financial management accountability and budgeting

• General knowledge of the game of baseball

• Good time management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

• This position requires standing for long periods of time and the ability to lift 50 lbs. or more

• Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Restaurant, Food Service management or related field is preferred

• Excellent verbal and communication skills Working Conditions/Special Physical Requirements

• Stand or walk for long periods of time • Routinely exposed to extreme hot/cold weather conditions

• Required to work flexible schedule based on the needs of the business

This is a full-time position. This person will be required to work a full-time schedule that includes regular office hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) on non-game days and during the baseball off-season.  On game days, the day generally begins at 9:00 am and ends after the game (sometimes as late or later than 11 pm).  The schedule varies and will include nights, weekends and holidays.  The Beach Bums 2017 game schedule is 48 home games.  Currently four special events are being planning.
